ISLAMABAD-UNS :Senior leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) and Senator Kamran Murtaza has urged the government to relax restrictions at the Iran border to help stabilize petroleum prices in the country.
Speaking on the recent hike in fuel prices, Murtaza criticized the government’s decision, stating that the increase would lead to an unbearable rise in inflation.
He described the price hike as unjustified and unacceptable under any circumstances.
He argued that allowing the import of cheaper fuel from Iran could provide immediate relief to the public and help control rising costs.
According to him, easing border policies would make petroleum products more affordable in Pakistan.
Murtaza also questioned international dynamics, referring to former U.S. President Donald Trump, claiming that India had been allowed to purchase discounted oil from Russia, while Pakistan was not given similar flexibility to import fuel from Iran.
He further criticized Pakistani leadership, urging policymakers to prioritize national interest over external pressures and make independent decisions for the welfare of the country and its citizens.
