ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has finally been shifted to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad from Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi,on Thursday night for medical examination and treatment.
According to jail officials, Imran Khan was transported to the hospital under tight security, with large contingents of police deployed in and around the hospital to maintain security.
Imran Khan convoy was showered with flower petals as it made its way to the hospital.
As Khan’s convoy made its way towards the hospital, supporters showered flower petals on the vehicles, welcoming his transfer from prison to the medical facility.
The development came following directions issued earlier this week by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. A three-member bench had ordered the government to transfer the former prime minister to Shifa International Hospital within 48 hours for medical examination and necessary treatment.
The transfer attracted considerable political and public attention, with heightened security arrangements put in place around the hospital.
