KARACHI -UNS : Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG) Azad Khan on Friday disclosed new details in the investigation into alleged drug queenpin Anmol alias Pinky, saying authorities had uncovered possible links to foreign nationals involved in the narcotics network.
Anmol, also known as Pinky, was arrested earlier this week during a joint raid conducted by police and a civilian intelligence agency at her apartment in Karachi. She was taken into custody in connection with cases involving narcotics possession and an illegal weapon.
A Karachi court later granted police a three-day physical remand of the suspect for further interrogation.
Addressing a press conference, AIG Azad Khan said investigators believed the case could expand into a transnational investigation after evidence suggested the involvement of foreign suspects.
“We have received information that some foreigners from African countries are part of this network and are currently in Lahore. Their number could be between six and eight,” he said.
The police official added that several women based in Lahore were also allegedly connected to the network.
According to investigators, at least 20 cases linked to Anmol have surfaced in Sindh, including 17 previous cases and three newly registered ones. One of the cases was filed by the Anti-Narcotics Force.
Police further revealed that three additional cases against Anmol had been registered in Lahore, while authorities were seeking updated information regarding their status.
AIG Khan said the suspect had formally been arrested in nine cases and acquitted in six older cases. He added that Anmol had also been declared a proclaimed offender in three cases and an absconder in the ANF case.
The investigation into the alleged narcotics network is ongoing, with authorities expanding efforts to trace local and foreign connections linked to the operation.
