ISLAMABAD-UNS: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has expressed displeasure during Question Hour over the non-receipt of an answer to a question raised by Member National Assembly Muhammad Ilyas Chaudhary regarding the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination and the absence of officials of the concerned ministry in the House.
The Speaker asked Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar why the answer to the question regarding the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination had not been provided to the House for the last four consecutive sittings.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the question had been raised during the 26th sitting of the National Assembly; however, despite the passage of several sittings, the answer had still not been received by the House, which was a matter of serious concern with regard to parliamentary proceedings.
The Speaker directed Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry to immediately summon the Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary and the concerned Section Officer of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination to the House and instruct them to remain present in the House until the conclusion of the proceedings.
Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq made it clear that it was the responsibility of the concerned ministries to provide timely and comprehensive answers to questions raised by Members of Parliament during Question Hour, and that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
Subsequently, the Speaker temporarily suspended the proceedings of the National Assembly until the attendance of the concerned officials of the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination in the House.
