PM Shehbaz, Qatari Minister hold talks on boosting trade and Investment Cooperation

DOHA -UNS:  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday held talks with Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Chairman of the Pak–Qatar Joint Business Taskforce, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation.
The meeting, held during the Prime Minister’s official visit to Qatar, focused on expanding bilateral trade, accelerating investment flows, and improving institutional coordination mechanisms.
Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed the need to increase trade volumes and diversify Pakistan’s exports to Qatar, particularly in agriculture, processed food, textiles, and value-added manufacturing. He said Pakistan’s ongoing structural reforms had helped create a more stable and investor-friendly business environment.
Highlighting the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the Prime Minister said it provides a transparent and streamlined platform to facilitate foreign direct investment, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and ensure policy continuity through a coordinated government approach.
Dr. Al-Sayed welcomed Pakistan’s reform efforts and reiterated Qatar’s interest in strengthening economic ties through enhanced private-sector engagement and structured business-to-business cooperation. He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s long-term economic potential.
Both sides agreed to convene a meeting of the Joint Business Taskforce during the month of Ramadan to review specific investment proposals and identify priority sectors for potential Qatari investment in Pakistan.
The leaders also reviewed progress under the 6th Session of the Pakistan–Qatar Joint Ministerial Commission and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing agreed decisions within set timelines.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
The discussions underscored a shared resolve to deepen trade, investment, and industrial cooperation, with both sides aiming to translate diplomatic engagement into tangible economic outcomes.
