China rejects India’s naming of 28 locations in disputed border regions

The controversy centres on the longstanding boundary dispute between China and India, particularly in the western sector, including Aksai Chin. The region is administered by China but claimed by India as part of Ladakh

UNS- China has criticised India’s decision to assign official names to 28 locations in disputed border areas, describing the move as an attempt to reinforce its territorial claims through administrative measures.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the locations include areas in disputed border regions and territories under Chinese control. Beijing maintains that such actions cannot establish sovereignty or change the existing territorial situation.

The controversy centres on the longstanding boundary dispute between China and India, particularly in the western sector, including Aksai Chin. The region is administered by China but claimed by India as part of Ladakh.

The two Asian neighbours have a history of military confrontations and diplomatic tensions along their disputed Himalayan frontier. Despite periodic efforts to ease tensions, disagreements over territorial claims continue to complicate bilateral relations.
