Saudi Prince Delivers Scathing Rebuke to Mockery of Saudis: ‘From Failure You Come, and to Failure You Shall Return’

RIYADH -UNS: Saudi Prince Abdulrahman bin Musaed bin Abdulaziz has delivered a scathing response to an online jibe targeting Saudis, turning an attempt at ridicule into a forceful defence of the Kingdom’s Arab heritage, cultural identity and ancestral traditions.

The exchange unfolded on the social media platform X after a user posted: “Quote of the day: Know, O Saudi, that you come from the tent and to the tent you shall return.”

The remark sought to portray the traditional Bedouin tent as a symbol of backwardness. Prince Abdulrahman, however, rejected the insinuation, stressing that the tent remains an integral part of Arab heritage and a powerful emblem of the region’s historical identity.

The Prince underscored that Saudis have never renounced their roots, declaring pride in their origins and traditions. The tent, historically associated with the Arab way of life, represents authenticity, dignity and continuity with the past—not a legitimate target for mockery or contempt.

In a pointed counterattack, the Prince responded: “As for you, here is the quote of the day—and every day: Know, you fool, that you come from failure and to failure you shall return.”

The sharp exchange has brought the question of cultural identity into focus, drawing a clear distinction between criticism and derision directed at a people’s heritage. Its central message is unequivocal: Saudi Arabia’s modern development does not require the abandonment of its historical roots, and pride in ancestral traditions is no admission of weakness or backwardness.

The response framed the attempted insult as a failure of its own making, turning the language of ridicule back on its author while reaffirming the enduring significance of Arab heritage and national identity.
