ADEN -UNS Mass rallies marking the anniversary of Yemen’s October 14 Revolution have issued a statement calling on the international community to recognise the right of the people of southern Yemen to restore their state, while reaffirming their commitment to regional stability, counterterrorism and international maritime security.
The statement outlined the following key positions:
Restoration of Statehood: Called on the international community to recognise the right of Southerners to restore their state.
Maritime Security: Asserted that southern forces are best positioned to protect the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital international shipping corridor.
Protection of Civilians: Rejected attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
National Character of the Southern Cause: Reaffirmed that the southern issue is a national cause rooted in the aspirations and political rights of the people of the South.
Defence of National Borders: Insisted that the role of southern forces should remain focused on protecting their national territory and borders.
Rejection of External Conflicts: Opposed the involvement of southern forces in wars that fall outside their stated national objectives.
Counterterrorism Commitment: Declared that southern Yemen would not become a safe haven for extremist or terrorist organisations.
International Security Cooperation: Reaffirmed the South’s willingness to cooperate in counterterrorism efforts and contribute to regional and international security.
