Saudi Cabinet Reaffirms Support for Somalia’s Sovereignty

The Saudi Cabinet, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, on Tuesday reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, rejecting any attempts to undermine the country through the creation of parallel institutions.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Cabinet endorsed the outcomes of the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Jeddah, which focused on the evolving situation in Somalia.
Briefing the media, Information Minister Salman Al-Dossari said the Cabinet fully supported the conclusions of the OIC meeting and reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to safeguarding Somalia’s national autonomy and stability.
The Cabinet also reviewed ongoing high-level consultations with international partners on regional developments and peace efforts. It renewed the Kingdom’s support for the ceasefire in Gaza and welcomed the successful conclusion of the Gulf Shield 2026 joint military exercise, hosted by Saudi Arabia.
In the economic sphere, the Cabinet evaluated key international engagements, including the Saudi-Japanese Ministerial Investment Forum and the Saudi-Canadian Business and Investment Forum. It approved a draft memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Canadian counterpart, along with several other international agreements and MoUs.
The meeting highlighted Saudi Arabia’s continued focus on regional security, diplomatic engagement, and economic cooperation, reflecting its broader strategy to promote stability and strengthen partnerships across the Middle East and beyond.
