PTI Leaders’ Attendance at Wedding With Former Army Chief Bajwa Sparks Controversy

By Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD:A wedding ceremony held at Islamabad’s Serena Hotel on Monday, November 2, reportedly brought together several prominent political figures, including PTI leaders and former Chief of Army Staff General (retd.) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The wedding was reportedly that of the niece of PTI MNA Atif Khan. PTI Acting Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and other party leaders were also said to have attended the event.

The presence of former army chief General Bajwa has sparked criticism among PTI supporters, given his alleged role in the removal of Imran Khan’s government, the former premier’s imprisonment, and the political challenges faced by the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Critics have questioned the participation of PTI leaders who had sought public support in the name of securing Imran Khan’s release but were reportedly seen socializing with individuals whom the party has repeatedly criticized.

Atif Khan’s attendance has also drawn attention. Critics recalled that he had allegedly stopped responding to party workers in WhatsApp groups following the imposition of governor’s rule, yet was present at the wedding ceremony in Islamabad.

The gathering has triggered frustration among sections of the PTI support base, with many questioning the commitment and loyalty of their political representatives.

For some supporters, the event has raised a broader question: why are leaders who publicly stand with Imran Khan appearing alongside figures they have previously accused of undermining his government?

The controversy has further intensified debate over internal divisions within the PTI and the political relationships of its leadership, as Imran Khan remains behind bars.
