ANKARA -UNS: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, held high-level meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and senior military leadership during his official visit to Turkiye, reaffirming the strong strategic partnership and defence cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
During his meeting with President Erdoğan, both leaders discussed regional developments, bilateral relations, and avenues for further enhancing cooperation in defence, security, and strategic affairs. The discussions underscored the longstanding friendship and shared commitment of Pakistan and Turkiye to regional peace and stability.
Field Marshal Asim Munir also met Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler, where both sides reviewed matters of mutual interest, regional security challenges, and opportunities to expand defence collaboration.
At the Turkish General Staff Headquarters, the Field Marshal was accorded a Guard of Honour and held detailed talks with General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, Chief of the Turkish General Staff. The discussions focused on evolving regional security dynamics and professional military cooperation.
In recognition of his outstanding services and significant contribution to strengthening military ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, General Bayraktaroğlu conferred the Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal upon Field Marshal Asim Munir.
As part of his engagements, the Field Marshal also visited the Turkish Land Forces Headquarters, where he was received by General Metin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, to further advance military-to-military cooperation.
The Field Marshal paid tribute to the founder of modern Turkiye, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, by visiting Anıtkabir in Ankara, where he laid a floral wreath and acknowledged Atatürk’s visionary leadership and enduring legacy.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit reflects the shared resolve of Pakistan and Turkiye to deepen their multifaceted defence partnership and continue working together for regional peace, security, and stability.
