UNS- Jerusalem: Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said on Wednesday that Israel is prepared to launch a third military strike against Iran if it deems such action necessary, following the confrontations in June 2025 and February 2026.
According to Hebrew media reports, Katz stated that Israel “must not wait until the danger reaches our doorstep while we fight to change the reality,” indicating that his government intends to maintain a proactive security posture against perceived threats from Iran.
Speaking at a memorial ceremony for Israeli soldiers killed during the 2006 Lebanon War, Katz also declared that Israeli forces would continue to remain in what he described as “security zones” in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza, without providing any timeline for a withdrawal.
“The Israeli army will remain in the security zones of Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza for as long as necessary to protect our citizens and communities from jihadist elements,” he said.
Referring to Iran, Katz argued that Israel should not consider its current achievements sufficient, claiming that Tehran continues to allocate significant resources to supporting armed groups rather than addressing the needs of its own population.
He further alleged that financial resources reaching Iran could ultimately be used to support groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and other Iran-aligned organizations, asserting that this is why Israel must maintain pressure on Tehran.
Iran has repeatedly rejected such accusations, maintaining that its regional policies are aimed at supporting allied movements and safeguarding its national security.
