Islamabad -UNS : At least five people have been killed and seven others injured after heavy rainfall, flash floods and lightning strikes caused widespread damage across Pakistan’s provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Zhob, three people, including a woman, a young girl and an eight-year-old child, lost their lives after houses and roofs collapsed during torrential rain. Four others, including women and children, were injured and taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Rescue teams, local authorities and hospital staff launched emergency operations shortly after the incidents.
Meanwhile, in Khyber District’s Bara Zakakhel area, two children were killed and three others injured after being struck by lightning, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
The PDMA also reported significant infrastructure damage in Lower Chitral, where heavy rain and flash floods affected 27 houses, damaged two mosques, two shops and a bridge, and swept away or damaged four vehicles and motorcycles.
Authorities further confirmed that two key link roads in Lower Chitral, which had been closed due to flooding, have since been reopened to traffic following restoration work.
