UNS: Saudi Arabia has raised the targeting of humanitarian assistance in Sudan at the United Nations Security Council, accusing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of attacking humanitarian aid near El Obeid in North Kordofan State.
In identical letters dated 16 September to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Wasil, addressed what Riyadh described as a serious attack on assistance provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.
The move comes amid a continuing escalation in drone attacks around El Obeid, where fighting has intensified and civilian areas and critical infrastructure have come under growing threat.
The United Nations has previously warned of the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in El Obeid and across North Kordofan, highlighting the impact of drone strikes on civilian areas.
