WASHINGTON-UNS : US President Donald Trump has issued a fresh warning to Iran, saying Washington could launch further military action if Tehran fails to control groups allied with it in Lebanon.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump urged Iran to stop what he described as proxy groups from creating instability in Lebanon.
He warned that the United States would respond decisively if tensions continue to escalate.”If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder,” Trump wrote.
His remarks came as senior American and Iranian officials continued negotiations in Switzerland aimed at reducing regional tensions. Pakistan and Qatar are reportedly assisting in mediation efforts between the two sides.
Meanwhile, Israel has continued strikes against Hezbollah-linked targets despite an existing ceasefire agreement.
The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes, remains closed under orders from the Iranian military.
Iranian authorities say the restrictions will stay in place due to what they describe as Israeli violations of the ceasefire.
The ongoing talks are being closely watched as international efforts continue to prevent further conflict and promote stability in the region.
