DHAKA -UNS : Bangladesh has expressed openness to exploring a potential economic or defense framework involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, as Dhaka seeks to expand regional cooperation and strengthen its ties with Islamabad.
According to Bangladeshi media reports, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir said in an interview that Bangladesh viewed positively the possibility of participating in such a framework.
Kabir said any decision would be based on Bangladesh’s national interests, changes in the global economic environment and developments in international trade.
He also said Dhaka was strengthening practical bilateral relations with Pakistan as part of its normal diplomatic engagement.
Efforts are underway to expand trade, economic cooperation and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
The development comes amid growing discussions about closer political, economic and defense coordination among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
Bangladeshi media also reported that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is expected to visit Saudi Arabia following an invitation from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The expected visit could provide an opportunity for further discussions on bilateral and regional cooperation.
Bangladesh’s remarks signal Dhaka’s interest in assessing emerging regional partnerships while maintaining a foreign policy centered on its economic and strategic interests.
