SIALKOT: Pakistan’s renowned football manufacturing hub, Sialkot, will once again take center stage at the FIFA World Cup as the official match ball for the 2026 tournament, the Adidas Trionda, is being produced in the city.
The FIFA World Cup 2026, set to be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature the Trionda ball in every match. Sialkot, which manufactures more than two-thirds of the world’s footballs, continues its long-standing association with global football by supplying balls for the sport’s biggest event.
Although Pakistan has never qualified for a FIFA World Cup, the country has maintained a significant behind-the-scenes presence through Sialkot’s football industry, which has produced official match balls for several previous World Cups.
Adidas unveiled the Trionda as the official ball for the expanded 48-team tournament. The name combines “Tri,” representing the three host nations, and “Onda,” the Spanish word for wave, symbolizing unity, movement, and the spirit of the game.
The ball’s design incorporates red, green, and blue colors to honor the host countries. Its innovative four-panel structure forms a central triangle representing the partnership between Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Design elements include a maple leaf, an eagle, and a star, while gold accents pay tribute to the FIFA World Cup Trophy.
Equipped with advanced Connected Ball
Technology, the Trionda features a 500Hz motion sensor that provides real-time tracking data to match officials and supports the semi-automated offside system. Its deep-seam four-panel design enhances flight stability, while embossed surface details improve grip and control in various weather conditions.
The selection of the Trionda further highlights Sialkot’s global reputation for producing high-quality footballs and reinforces Pakistan’s enduring contribution to the world’s most prestigious football tournament.
