Lahore: The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League is set to begin on Thursday, with Lahore hosting the opening match under a revised schedule announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
According to the updated plan, defending champions Lahore Qalandars will face Hyderabad Kings at Gaddafi Stadium.
The opening ceremony has been cancelled, and the match will be played without spectators due to the prevailing regional situation.
The PCB revised the tournament schedule citing national interests, confirming that a total of 44 matches will be played during the competition. Matches will be evenly divided between Karachi and Lahore, with each city hosting 22 games.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi earlier stated that temporary sacrifices were necessary to ensure smoother conditions in the future.
Historically, Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United are the most successful teams in the league, with three titles each. Peshawar Zalmi, Multan Sultans, Karachi Kings, and Quetta Gladiators have each won the tournament once.
The tournament is expected to proceed under tight security and adjusted arrangements as the league returns for another competitive season.
