Lahore-UNS: In 1995, Princess Diana visited the Royal Brompton Hospital to see a friend who was undergoing treatment. During this visit, she met Hasnat Khan. Their relationship later became a major reason for Dr. Hasnat Khan’s public recognition.
After serving for many years in the United Kingdom, Dr. Hasnat Khan has now returned to Pakistan.
Close friend of Princess Diana and renowned cardiologist Dr. Hasnat Khan has moved from the UK to Pakistan and has been appointed head of the Jinnah Institute of Cardiology. He will serve as both CEO and Dean.
Princess Diana had affectionately nicknamed him “Mr. Wonderful.” According to Dr. Farqad Alamgir, Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Advisory Committee on Cardiac Diseases, Dr. Khan was selected after an interview process. He expressed his desire to serve in Pakistan.
Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare, Khawaja Salman Rafique, stated that Dr. Khan is a highly skilled cardiac surgeon. His arrival is expected to improve hospital standards and bring cardiac surgery in line with international standards, ultimately benefiting patients.
Dr. Hasnat Khan was born in 1958 in Jhelum. After completing his education at King Edward Medical College, he moved to the UK, where he served as a cardiologist at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
