ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday welcomed the recent ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, describing it as a positive step toward regional and global stability.
In a statement, the prime minister announced that Pakistan has invited delegations from both countries to Islamabad for further negotiations scheduled on April 10, 2026. He expressed hope that the proposed “Islamabad Talks” would help pave the way for a comprehensive and lasting resolution of disputes.
Sharif appreciated the leadership of both nations for demonstrating “remarkable wisdom and understanding” during a period of heightened tensions. He noted that the ceasefire extends to allied regions, including Lebanon and other affected areas, and is effective immediately.
Emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to peace, the prime minister said the country remains ready to facilitate dialogue and support diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring long-term stability.
“We earnestly hope that the Islamabad Talks will lead to sustainable peace,” he said, adding that further positive developments are expected in the coming days.
