Pakistan Independence Day Celebrated in Jeddah with Flag-Hoisting Ceremony

JEDDAH-UNS : Pakistan’s Independence Day was commemorated in Jeddah with a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Consulate General of Pakistan, bringing together members of the Pakistani community and invited guests to mark the country’s national day and reaffirm their enduring connection with the homeland.

I had the honour of attending the ceremony at the invitation of Consul General Mustafa Rubani, joining fellow Pakistanis in observing the 79th Independence Day of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The ceremony carried significance beyond the traditional celebrations, reflecting the strong sense of national identity and solidarity among Pakistanis living abroad. The raising of the national flag in Jeddah served as a symbolic expression of pride in Pakistan and a reminder of the enduring bonds that connect the Pakistani diaspora with their homeland.

I participated in the ceremony alongside my friend Hafiz Afzal Ahmed Tor, offering special prayers for the safety, stability, progress and prosperity of Pakistan and its people.

The occasion also highlighted the longstanding bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, with Jeddah holding particular historical and social significance for the Pakistani community in the Kingdom.
