Capt (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry Assumes Charge as Islamabad Police Chief

ISLAMABAD -UNS: Captain (Retired) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry has formally assumed charge as Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad.

A change-of-command ceremony was held at the Central Police Office, where a smartly turned-out police contingent presented him with a guard of honour. Senior officers and personnel warmly welcomed the new police chief.

Beginning his official duties, IGP Chaudhry visited the Police Martyrs’ Memorial, laid a floral wreath and offered prayers for the departed souls.

He later held introductory meetings with police officers and received detailed briefings on professional and operational matters.

The IGP said maintaining law and order in the federal capital, protecting citizens and upholding the rule of law would remain his foremost priorities.

He also pledged to enhance the force’s professional standards, expand the use of modern technology, improve traffic management and enforce strict internal accountability.

Officers were directed to treat citizens courteously and provide timely services strictly on merit.
