RAWALPINDI: Two Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred while six militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in the Zarkani area of Dera Ismail Khan on October 24, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched the operation after receiving intelligence reports about the presence of militants affiliated with what the military described as the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij.
During the operation, security personnel engaged the militants in an intense exchange of fire, killing six of them, the ISPR said.
The military identified the martyred soldiers as Naik Ghulam Murtaza, 36, a resident of Gujrat district, and Sepoy Taseer Ahmed, 30, who hailed from Talagang district.
Both soldiers fought bravely and embraced martyrdom while defending the country, according to the ISPR statement.
The military’s media wing added that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants killed during the operation.
Security forces continue to conduct operations against militant groups as part of efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
