Nusuk App Introduces Electric Cart Booking for Tawaf and Sa’i at Makkah’s Grand Mosque

New digital service aims to improve accessibility for elderly pilgrims and people with mobility difficulties

MAKKAH-UNS Saudi Arabia has introduced an electric cart booking facility through its Nusuk app, enabling pilgrims to arrange electric transport for performing Tawaf and Sa’i at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

The initiative is designed to make movement within the holy mosque more comfortable and accessible, particularly for elderly worshippers, people with disabilities and those who experience difficulty walking long distances.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the service complements the ongoing efforts of the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque to provide electric carts and facilitate pilgrims’ movement while they perform their religious rites.

Improving Accessibility for Pilgrims

The new booking facility reflects the authorities’ commitment to addressing pilgrims’ needs, improving service standards and enabling worshippers to perform their rituals with greater comfort and peace of mind.

Tawaf involves circumambulating the Kaaba seven times, while Sa’i consists of walking seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah. Both are essential rites of Umrah, and Sa’i is also performed during Hajj.

For pilgrims who have limited mobility, covering these distances can be physically demanding. Electric carts provide an alternative transport option, helping eligible users undertake the rituals with greater ease.

The service is particularly relevant to elderly pilgrims and those who may be unable to walk the required distances comfortably. It also forms part of wider efforts to accommodate the varying physical needs of worshippers visiting Islam’s holiest site.

Digital Services Through the Nusuk App

The introduction of electric cart bookings through the Nusuk app represents another step in Saudi Arabia’s efforts to expand digital services for Umrah pilgrims and simplify access to facilities at the holy sites.

By integrating the booking facility into the application, the authorities aim to make the process of accessing electric transport more convenient and to improve the overall pilgrimage experience.

The initiative also reflects a broader emphasis on using digital solutions to improve service delivery, make better use of available resources and provide transport options suited to different categories of visitors.

How Pilgrims Can Access the Service

Pilgrims wishing to use the facility can download the Nusuk app and check the available options for booking an electric cart.

Users should follow the booking instructions displayed in the application and check the availability, applicable charges, designated collection points and other service conditions before confirming a reservation.

Pilgrims are advised to consult the app for the latest operational details, as availability and booking requirements may vary.

Enhancing the Pilgrimage Experience

The electric cart booking facility forms part of continuing efforts to improve services for visitors to the Grand Mosque and make the performance of religious rituals more manageable for people with different mobility needs.

By combining transport facilities with digital booking options, Saudi authorities aim to improve accessibility, enhance operational efficiency and provide a more comfortable experience for pilgrims performing Tawaf and Sa’i.
