Sports journalism creating hope and courage among youth:Tarar

ISLAMABAD-APP :Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said on Tuesday sports journalism has played key role in highlighting activities in sports arena and promoting healthy competition.

Addressing an event organized on the occasion of “World Sports Journalists Day”, he said on Tuesday, was an important day for sports journalism.
Appreciating the role of sports journalism, he said it has created hope and courage among the youth all over the world.

“Sports journalism plays an important role in fostering an atmosphere of competition,” Attaullah Tarar remarked.
The minister said that sports journalism has always played a prominent role in adding glamour and hype of various sports competitions besides promoting sportsmanship.
Sports journalism also plays a big role in highlighting the current talent from the grassroots level.
” Sports journalists project talents from far flung areas who get recognition and earn fame courtesy media,” he maintained.
He said Pakistan’s sports history was replete with success stories highlighted by media. He said the government had the policy of not only promoting sports but also sports journalism.
He assured that the government and especially Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would always take steps for facilitation of sports media.
He congratulated the newly elected office bearers of Rawalpindi Islamabad Sports Journalists Association.
He urged the media houses to launch new sports which would help highlight and promote sports talent from grassroot level.
