MUZAFFARABAD -UNS : Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is considering its Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Shah Ghulam Qadir as a candidate for the office of AJK prime minister as the party moves ahead with consultations on government formation.
According to sources, the possible nomination of Shah Ghulam Qadir was discussed during an important meeting of the PML-N AJK parliamentary party attended by the party’s top leadership.
PML-N President Nawaz Sharif praised Shah Ghulam Qadir’s political services and efforts, describing him as a capable person who had worked hard for the party.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shehbaz, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, and other senior party and federal leaders attended the meeting.
Shah Ghulam Qadir, former AJK prime minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan and newly elected members of the AJK Legislative Assembly were also present.
The meeting reviewed the evolving political situation in Azad Kashmir and discussed the PML-N’s strategy for forming the government and selecting its candidate for the top executive position.
Party leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to public service, political stability and accelerating development projects across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
A final decision regarding the PML-N candidate for AJK prime minister is expected to be made by the party leadership following consultations.
