Islamabad -UNS :A protest demonstration was held outside the Islamabad Press Club on the occasion of India’s Independence Day organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission.
The demonstration was led by Muhammad Farooq Rahmani, former convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. The protesters were holding black flags in their hands and chanting strong slogans against India, saying, “We will take away freedom, our right is freedom.”
Hurriyat leaders, representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Commission, political and social figures and Kashmiri workers participated in the demonstration.
Muhammad Farooq Rahmani said that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are celebrating India’s Independence Day as a black day today, while Kashmiris living around the world are also recording their protest against Indian occupation. He said that the complete strike and Black Day in occupied Kashmir are a clear expression of the fact that the Kashmiri people reject Indian rule.
He said that India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru himself had promised the Kashmiri people that they would be given the right to decide their future, but India, by deviating from its promises and the pledge made at the international level, has deprived the Kashmiri people of their fundamental right to self-determination.
Addressing the speakers, Mahmood Ahmed Sagar, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal, Dawood Yousafzai, Altaf Ahmed Butt, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Zahid Mushtaq, Manzoor Ahmed Shah, Adil Turabi, Rashid Shah, Najibullah Ghafoor and Zahid Safi, Director Kashmir Liberation Cell Khan Afsar Khan, Ghulam Nabi Butt, Nusrat Bhatti, Information Secretary of the All-Party Hurriyat Conference Imtiaz Wani and others said that India has no moral justification to celebrate Independence Day due to its illegal occupation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
