ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has strongly rejected India’s statement regarding Pakistan’s counter-terrorism operations in Afghanistan, describing it as “fabricated, baseless, and contrary to facts.”
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan’s actions targeted terrorist infrastructure posing a threat to its national security and were carried out in accordance with international law. He asserted that Pakistan has the right to take all necessary measures to protect its citizens from terrorism.
The spokesperson accused India of sponsoring militant groups operating against Pakistan from Afghan territory and alleged that New Delhi continues to exploit Afghan soil to undermine Pakistan’s security. He also criticized India over its policies in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, accusing it of denying the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination.
The Foreign Office further stated that India’s allegations were politically motivated and claimed that New Delhi’s actions undermine regional peace and stability, including through alleged violations of relevant UN Security Council sanctions.
Calling India’s remarks “provocative and misleading,” Andrabi said it was inappropriate for a country accused of interfering in the internal affairs of its neighbors to level such allegations against Pakistan.
Reaffirming Islamabad’s position, the spokesperson said Pakistan remains committed to taking all lawful and necessary measures to safeguard its national security and ensure the safety of its citizens.
