ISLAMABAD -UNS:Pakistan conductsed first successful Nuclear Cold Test at Kirana Hills in 1983. According to details,in 1983, within the quiet and remote surroundings of the Kirana Hills in Pakistan, a small group of senior officials and scientists achieved a milestone that would shape the country’s strategic future.
Among those present were Ghulam Ishaq Khan,Former President of Pakistan the than Secretary Finance,Chief of General Staff ,General K. M. Arif, and Attomic Energy Commission Chairman, Munir Ahmad Khan alongside scientists from the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).
Pakistan successfully carried out its first nuclear “cold test” — a non-nuclear detonation designed to validate the bomb’s engineering and triggering mechanisms without an actual nuclear explosion.
The operation remained completely secret at the time: no public celebrations, no international announcements, and no media attention.
The achievement reflected Pakistan’s determination during a period of intense regional security concerns.
Despite limited economic resources and the absence of major energy wealth, the country relied on scientific expertise, national resolve, and strategic planning to advance its nuclear capability.
