AMMAN / RIYADH-UNS:Jordan and Saudi Arabia have strongly condemned an attack on the Qatari liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Al Maayeda while it was transiting the Arabian Gulf, warning that attacks on commercial shipping pose serious risks to maritime security, freedom of navigation and international energy supplies.
In a statement, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates described the incident as a violation of international law and a direct threat to freedom of navigation.
The ministry stressed the importance of respecting international conventions governing the safety of commercial vessels and their crews, cautioning that such incidents could have serious implications for regional stability, the global economy and the maritime environment.
Amman also reaffirmed its full solidarity with Qatar, expressing support for any measures Doha considers necessary to safeguard its security, interests and national assets.
