India Edge England by Seven Runs to Set Up T20 World Cup 2026 Final with New Zealand

MUMBAI-UNS : India booked their place in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after defeating England by seven runs in a thrilling second semi-final at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
In a high-scoring encounter, India posted a massive total of 253 for seven and then held their nerve to restrict England to 246 for seven in 20 overs, securing a dramatic victory in front of a packed crowd.
The win sets up a title clash between India and New Zealand in the final scheduled to be played on Sunday in Ahmedabad.
Samson leads India’s batting charge
After England captain Harry Brook won the toss and opted to field, India capitalized on the batting-friendly conditions with an aggressive display.
Opening batter Sanju Samson starred with the bat, scoring an impressive 89 off 42 balls. His explosive innings, filled with powerful strokes around the ground, laid a strong foundation for India’s big total.
Shivam Dube provided valuable support with 43 runs from 25 balls, keeping the momentum going in the middle overs. Ishan Kishan also played a quick cameo, smashing 39 runs off just 18 deliveries to maintain the high scoring rate.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 11 runs while Abhishek Sharma added nine as India continued to attack despite losing wickets at intervals.
Hardik Pandya gave the innings a late boost with a rapid 27 off 12 balls, helping India reach an imposing total of 253 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.
For England, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid picked up two wickets each, conceding 40 and 41 runs respectively. Fast bowler Jofra Archer claimed one wicket but was expensive, giving away 61 runs in his four overs.
