Immunisation Key to Stronger Economies,Societies:Dr Sania at World Government Summit

UNS Report

Dr Sania Nishtar joined the OECD–EU High-Level Dialogue on the Resilience of Societies and Economies at the World Government Summit, where she underscored the critical role of immunisation in building stronger societies, health systems and economies.

Speaking at the forum, Dr Nishtar highlighted how Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance’s strategic investments in global vaccine stockpiles and cold chain optimisation are reinforcing health systems worldwide and enhancing global preparedness against infectious diseases.

She stressed that immunisation is not only a public health intervention but also a foundation for long-term economic and social stability.

By ensuring rapid access to vaccines and improving storage and distribution systems, countries are better equipped to respond to outbreaks and protect vulnerable populations.

“Health is not just a social good; it is a pillar of economic stability, political security and global resilience,” Dr Nishtar said, calling for continued international cooperation to strengthen immunisation programmes.

The dialogue brought together policymakers and global health leaders to explore how resilient health systems contribute to sustainable development and economic security in an increasingly interconnected world.
