ATTOCK: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Monday killed five suspected terrorists during a large-scale intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the border areas of Attock district, successfully thwarting planned terrorist activities targeting Punjab.
According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was launched after receiving credible intelligence regarding the presence and movement of terrorist elements in the region. During the raid, the suspects allegedly opened fire on CTD personnel, leading to an intense exchange of gunfire.
The CTD team responded effectively, resulting in the deaths of all five terrorists. No security personnel were injured during the operation.
Authorities recovered a significant cache of weapons, explosives, and hand grenades from the slain militants. The seized materials have been taken into custody for forensic analysis and further investigation.
Officials said the militants were allegedly involved in planning terrorist attacks across Punjab. The intelligence-led operation was conducted based on sensitive information about their activities and movements.
The CTD spokesperson confirmed that search and clearance operations are continuing in the border areas of Attock to locate and apprehend any facilitators, accomplices, or fugitives linked to the network.
Efforts are underway to identify the deceased militants and determine their affiliations, while investigators work to uncover any wider terrorist connections.
Security officials reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism, stating that counter-terrorism operations will continue uninterrupted to ensure public safety and protect state institutions from emerging threats.
