Washington, D.C: Dr. Sajid Tarar, the founder of Muslims of America, has been appointed as the Ambassador of Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) in the United States.
Addressing a ceremony, Dr. Sajid Tarar said that taking care of orphans is the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) and an essential part of our faith.
He was addressing a fundraising event of the organization in the U.S. state of Maryland.
Dr. Sajid Tarar said that his own organization in America, the Center for Social Change, is working for the care of orphaned children and disabled persons, where the children call him “Daddy.”
Addressing the ceremony, he said that the journey of the founder of Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust, Chaudhry Akhtar, started after the devastating earthquake of 2005, which is commendable. He said that this project of KORT will provide international standard health facilities to thousands of needy people.
He said that Chaudhry Akhtar started this journey alone and today thousands of people around the world have become his companions in this mission. He also said that caring for orphans and the needy is the Sunnah of our Prophet and in our religion emphasis has been laid on caring for orphans, and our Prophet has called the one who cares for orphans his friend.
Addressing the ceremony, the founder and chairman of the Trust, Chaudhry Akhtar, said that the lives of hundreds of children are being changed under this institution. He said that the children residing in KORT are not only getting high-quality education but are also living a better life.
He said that the children under the care of this institution have never worn used clothes nor have they ever been served stale food. He said that after the late Edhi, the Government of Pakistan has allowed him to give his own name in the parentage of these children.
Giving details about the under-construction KORT hospital in Mirpur, he said that overseas Pakistanis have contributed generously to this modern hospital worth 12 billion. This project will be completed in a short period of three years, which will include a state-of-the-art burn center and isolation ward.
At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Sajid Tarar announced a donation of $35,000 to the Trust and assured further fundraising. On this occasion, Pakistani-American social and business personalities present at the ceremony, including President of Muslims of America Ayesha Khan, Gul Sher Sahi known as owner of Pakistan House, prominent social personality Sardar Zarif Khan and others also announced donations.
