DG ISPR Warns Afghan Taliban of Serious Consequences Over Support for Militancy in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has warned the Afghan Taliban regime of serious consequences if it fails to stop supporting militant groups involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

In an interview with a foreign media outlet, the military spokesperson accused India of being the biggest sponsor of terrorism in Pakistan, alleging that the Afghan Taliban regime was acting as an Indian proxy to undermine Pakistan’s security and stability.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry identified militant organisations, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), as Indian proxies, alleging that the Afghan Taliban were using non-state actors and mercenaries to advance hostile objectives against Pakistan.

He said Afghanistan remained under the influence of various non-state actors, adding that several intelligence agencies and proxy groups had established their presence there following Russia’s intervention in the country.

The DG ISPR also highlighted the alleged presence of international militant organisations, including Jaish al-Adl, Al-Qaeda and Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), in Afghanistan.

Emphasising Islamabad’s position, he said Pakistan’s demand was straightforward: the Afghan Taliban must stop providing support, shelter and assistance to militants operating against Pakistan from Afghan territory.

Lt Gen Chaudhry warned that continued support for anti-Pakistan militant elements would have serious consequences, stressing that Islamabad could not compromise on its national security.
