GHOTKI: Serious questions have been raised over alleged police misconduct and abuse of authority after a purported video showing a detainee naked inside the lock-up of Andal Sundrani Police Station in Ghotki Sindh, surfaced on social media.
According to local sources, the man was allegedly arrested for cutting wood on forest land. It is further alleged that a video of the detainee was recorded at the behest of an influential individual.
A voice heard in the viral footage is also being attributed to the station house officer (SHO), though these claims have not been independently verified.
The incident has triggered concerns over the treatment and dignity of people held in police custody and renewed calls for accountability over alleged custodial abuse.
Rights advocates have repeatedly raised concerns about allegations of police excesses against ordinary citizens, particularly in rural and underserved areas of Sindh and Punjab.
