SC Moved for Early Hearing of Review Plea in Imran Khan Hospital Transfer Case

ISLAMABAD-UNS: The Islamabad Chief Commissioner has approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking an early hearing of the government’s review petition challenging the court’s August 18 order regarding the transfer of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to a private hospital for medical examination and treatment.
In the application, the Chief Commissioner requested that the review petition be fixed for hearing at the earliest, arguing that the case involves not only the provision of medical facilities but also significant questions concerning legal and constitutional jurisdiction.
The review petition raises questions relating to judicial jurisdiction following the 27th Constitutional Amendment, Article 175(2) of the Constitution and relevant prison laws.
According to the petition, the August 18 order was issued under time constraints, making an urgent hearing necessary. The government has sought a review, modification or withdrawal of the order directing Imran Khan’s transfer to a private hospital for examination and treatment by a medical panel.
The latest application follows the government’s efforts to challenge the Supreme Court order concerning Imran Khan’s medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has maintained that the government fully complied with the Supreme Court’s directions during Imran Khan’s medical examination.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Tarar said health-related matters should not be politicised and should remain separate from political differences. He also rejected suggestions that the government had adopted a derogatory attitude towards the former prime minister following the court’s order.
