ISLAMABAD -UNS : The annual Urs celebrations of renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Abdul Latif Kazmi Qadri, popularly known as Bari Imam, have begun in Islamabad, drawing a large number of devotees from different parts of the country.
A traditional Chadar Poshi ceremony was held at the shrine on Friday evening, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar attending as the chief guest.
Federal ministers Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Hanif Abbasi, religious scholars, representatives of different schools of thought, prominent personalities and a large number of devotees and members of the public also attended the ceremony.
The annual Urs celebrations will continue for three days, during which various religious and spiritual gatherings will be held to pay tribute to the life, teachings and services of Hazrat Bari Imam.
The Bari Imam shrine is regarded as one of Pakistan’s prominent Sufi shrines and attracts thousands of devotees who visit to pay their respects and participate in religious activities.
Hazrat Bari Imam is remembered as a distinguished Sufi saint and an influential preacher of Islam. His teachings emphasized spirituality, peace, tolerance and service to humanity. His shrine in Islamabad remains an important centre of spiritual devotion and Sufi traditions.
Special arrangements have been made for devotees and visitors attending the three-day Urs celebrations.
