ISLAMABAD -UNS : The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Thursday organized Career Expo 2026 at its Central Library, with separate arrangements for male and female students, bringing together academia, industry and researchers on a common platform for career development, innovation and recruitment.
The expo was inaugurated by Acting Rector and President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, accompanied by Vice President Research and Enterprise Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed. During the visit, they reviewed around 550 Final Year Projects (FYPs) displayed by students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET).
The projects featured innovative solutions in smart farming, traffic management, artificial intelligence-based assistance systems, soil testing, psychological assessment prototypes, solar energy applications and other areas addressing contemporary societal needs. The IIUI President appreciated the relevance of the projects and their potential contribution to solving real-world challenges.
The event featured 523 Final Year Projects from various disciplines, 11 university research products and participation from more than 30 industries and organizations. Faculty stalls from across the university also took part in the expo, providing career counselling and academic guidance to students.
Addressing the participants, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed said universities must equip students with knowledge, skills and professional exposure required to succeed in a rapidly changing world. He noted that the expo reflected IIUI’s commitment to strengthening academia-industry linkages and creating opportunities for students to connect with employers and researchers.
Vice President FPCCI Tariq Jadoon, who also addressed the gathering, emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry, skill development, innovation and entrepreneurship. He encouraged students to continuously learn, adapt and explore emerging career opportunities.
Earlier, Convener Career Expo 2026 Dr. Bashir Ahmed briefed participants about the event and said the initiative aimed to strengthen engagement between students, researchers, academia and industry. He informed the audience that 330 students submitted resumes for employment opportunities, while around 190 candidates appeared in final interviews conducted by participating organizations.
Industry representatives showed keen interest in the students’ projects and interacted with participants during the expo. Recruitment activities, networking sessions and career consultations were also held on the occasion.
The IIUI President appreciated the efforts of Convener Dr. Bashir Ahmed, Co-Convener Dr. Shahid Ikram, Dr. Salma Imtiaz, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Muhammad Aamir, and members of the organizing and sub-committees for successfully arranging the event.
