ISLAMABAD-UNS: The Ministry of Economic Affairs on Wednesday released the details of loans for the first 7 months of the current fiscal year.
According to the report by the Economic Affairs Division (EAD), from July 2024 to January 2025, Pakistan took a total loan of $4.58 billion.
Out of this, $2.32 billion were received from various financial institutions, and an investment of $1.12 billion was made in the New Pakistan Certificates.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs stated that the budget estimates a loan of $19.39 billion during this fiscal year, and the loan taken in the first 7 months of the current fiscal year is approximately 30% less compared to the same period last year.
The EAD report mentioned that during the same period last fiscal year, loans amounting to $6.30 billion were taken. From July to January, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided $1.04 billion in loans.
According to the report, the World Bank provided $573.8 million in loans from July to January, while China lent $99.1 million, and France provided $102.5 million in financing.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs also stated that a total of $2.32 billion were received from multilateral institutions, and the Islamic Development Bank lent a total of $400 million.
