WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump has welcomed Iran’s decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping, describing it as a positive step toward easing regional tensions and restoring stability to global trade routes.
In a statement shared on social media, Trump confirmed that Iran had reopened the strategic waterway, calling attention to its importance for uninterrupted maritime traffic and global energy supplies. He expressed appreciation for the move, noting its significance for international markets.
The development follows an announcement by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who said the Strait of Hormuz had been reopened to all commercial vessels in connection with a ceasefire arrangement linked to recent regional developments.
