ISLAMABAD: US President Donal Trump will visit Islamabad, next week to sign historic Islamabad Peace agreement with Iran.According to official sources Iranian President will also participate in second of Islamabad Peace talks.
In a major diplomatic development, Pakistan is set to host a historic second and decisive round of peace negotiations between the United States and Iran on April 22,2026 marking a significant breakthrough in relations between the two long-standing rivals and to sign Islamabad Peace Pact.
According to diplomatic sources, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to arrive in Pakistan around April 22, while the Iranian president is also anticipated to visit Islamabad for what could become a landmark agreement. The anticipated meeting may culminate in the signing of a historic peace accord between the two nations.
This would represent the first high-level peace agreement between the United States and Iran in nearly five decades, highlighting a rare moment of reconciliation after years of geopolitical tensions.
Pakistan is playing a central mediating role in facilitating these talks. The second round of negotiations in Islamabad is being described as decisive, with most key issues reportedly already resolved through backchannel diplomacy including permanent ceasefire.
Senior Pakistani leadership has been actively involved in advancing the peace process.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshall Gen Asim Munir have made sustained diplomatic efforts to bring both sides closer.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir is said to have played a pivotal role in bridging gaps between Washington and Tehran.
Following progress in talks with the United States, General Asim Munir reportedly visited Iran, where further groundwork was laid with Iranian leadership to formalize the agreement.
In parallel, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged with leaders from Saudi Arabia and Turkey to ensure broader regional support for the initiative.
Diplomatic insiders suggest that the final round of negotiations, expected on April 22 or 23 in Islamabad, will be crucial in determining the success of the agreement.
