Samarkand, Uzbekistan -UNS: Senator Agha Shahzaib Durrani of Pakistan chaired a high-level session of the IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians 2026, held in the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
The prestigious international gathering brought together young parliamentarians and parliamentary delegations from more than 75 countries, providing a global platform for dialogue on the challenges confronting younger generations and the role of young legislators in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable future.
Chairing the proceedings, Senator Durrani led discussions among parliamentarians representing diverse regions of the world, underscoring the importance of stronger youth representation in political decision-making and greater international parliamentary cooperation.
The conference in Samarkand also provided an important opportunity for young legislators to exchange perspectives, strengthen parliamentary networks and develop common approaches to emerging global challenges.
Senator Durrani’s role as Chair of the session reflected Pakistan’s active engagement within the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its growing contribution to international parliamentary diplomacy and youth leadership.
