Islamabad: The Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Alber Khorev has said that Russia should be regarded as a Muslim country as well, as every fifth citizen of Russia is a Muslim and the country maintains good relations with all Muslim world.
Addressing a conference on Russian diplomacy and Pak-Russia relations at the Islamabad Policy Research Institute, the ambassador stated that relations between Pakistan and Russia are exemplary and are improving with the passage of time.
Commenting on the situation in Afghanistan, he said that the current rulers there are better than previous ones; however, they have not yet received international recognition.
He added that Pakistan’s concerns regarding terrorism are legitimate and deserve serious consideration, stressing the need for joint efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.
The Russian Ambassador has said that Russia is playing a positive role in resolving global conflicts, including the crisis in Gaza.
He stated that consultations would be held with Russia and other allied countries regarding the situation in Gaza.
He further said that Russia’s economy has been affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine, adding that the conflict has had serious economic consequences.
The ambassador emphasized that Russia continues to support diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in conflict-affected regions.
