Islamabad, June 8: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the results of the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, alleging widespread electoral rigging and announcing plans to release a white paper detailing what it claims were serious irregularities during the polling process.
Addressing a press conference, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan described the elections as “fake and rigged” and said the party would observe a “black day” in Gilgit-Baltistan on the occasion of the oath-taking ceremony.
He claimed that PTI possessed Form 47 records for three constituencies and asserted that the party had secured clear leads in eight constituencies, contrary to the official election results.
Barrister Gohar alleged that vote manipulation and the denial of citizens’ right to vote represented a serious challenge to democratic principles. He further claimed that pre-poll rigging had taken place and accused authorities of deliberately sidelining PTI from the electoral process.
The PTI chairman said the party would continue to raise concerns over the conduct of the elections and present evidence of alleged irregularities through a detailed white paper in the coming days.
The election results have added to the political controversy surrounding the Gilgit-Baltistan polls, with PTI maintaining that the outcome does not reflect the public mandate.
