KURRAM (UNS) – Pakistani security forces have successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by a terrorist group identified as Fitna al-Khawarij along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram district, while destroying Afghan Taliban border posts in a retaliatory operation following cross-border firing.
According to security sources, militants belonging to Fitna al-Khawarij attempted to enter Pakistani territory through the Shalozan sector of Kurram on Thursday. However, alert security personnel responded swiftly and prevented the group from crossing into Pakistan.
Sources said Afghan Taliban forces subsequently opened what they described as unprovoked fire on Pakistani troops after the infiltration attempt was foiled.
Pakistani security forces immediately responded to the firing and launched a strong retaliatory operation, using heavy weapons to target positions from where the shots originated.
The operation reportedly caused significant damage to several Afghan Taliban border posts, according to security sources.
The sources added that Pakistani troops successfully repelled the attempted infiltration and effectively responded to the cross-border firing.
The latest incident highlights continuing security tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, particularly in the Kurram region, where Pakistani forces remain vigilant against militant infiltration and cross-border threats.
