ISLAMABAD (UNS): The Islamabad district administration has intensified its crackdown on shisha cafés, sealing 11 establishments during intelligence-based operations across the federal capital.
According to officials, surprise inspections were conducted in E-11, Civic Centre and I-8 following reports that shisha cafés were operating in these areas. Three establishments were sealed in E-11, six in Civic Centre and two in I-8. Shisha-related equipment recovered from the premises was also confiscated.
The action follows directives from the Islamabad High Court to formulate comprehensive rules and regulations governing shisha cafés within one month.
Pending the development of the regulatory framework, the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad has ordered the complete suspension of shisha café operations—both indoors and outdoors—until further notice.
Authorities have warned that establishments found violating the order will be sealed and their owners may face legal proceedings.
Assistant commissioners have also been instructed to conduct daily inspections within their respective jurisdictions to ensure strict enforcement of the ban.
The administration said the crackdown would continue to prevent unauthorised shisha operations across Islamabad while new regulations are being prepared.
