NEW YORK-UNS: NYC Health + Hospitals has launched the 2026 edition of its “Light the Way” Truck outreach campaign to raise awareness of NYC Care, a healthcare access program available to all eligible New Yorkers regardless of immigration status or ability to pay.
The campaign began in Fordham Heights, the Bronx, and will travel across all five boroughs, making more than 24 stops over 12 days before concluding on July 31, marking the program’s seventh anniversary.
At each stop, trained community ambassadors will distribute multilingual informational materials, healthy snacks, lip balm, T-shirts, and other promotional items while helping residents learn about and enroll in NYC Care. Staff members speak multiple languages, including English, Spanish, French, Simplified Chinese, Haitian Creole, Arabic, Bengali, Mandarin, Urdu, and Hindi, ensuring outreach to New York City’s diverse communities.
Scheduled events include community outreach in Kingsbridge Heights (Bronx), Midtown Manhattan, Tompkinsville Park (Staten Island), Sunset Park (Brooklyn), and Flushing and South Richmond Hill (Queens), including participation in the United Sikhs Community Resource Fair and a Korean Community Services (KCS) event.
The mobile initiative complements the city’s broader awareness campaign through subway, bus, television, radio, digital, and newspaper advertising, encouraging more uninsured New Yorkers to access affordable healthcare services through NYC Care.
