Islamabad-UNS: The Government of Japan has announced a grant of USD 65,470 (about PKR 18 million) to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) program to strengthen blood donation services in Islamabad.
The grant agreement was signed at the Embassy of Japan between Ambassador AKAMATSU Shuichi and PRCS representatives. The project will refurbish a second-hand blood donation vehicle to support the PRCS Regional Blood Donation Centre in Islamabad.
The vehicle will help organize blood drives at universities, workplaces, public spaces and mosques across the capital region. The initiative is expected to increase blood collection capacity by around 30 percent, benefiting about 12,000 patients including those suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia, cancer, and victims of road accidents.
Japan reaffirmed its commitment to supporting humanitarian initiatives in Pakistan.
