Islamabad: Following the recent ceasefire between Iran and the United States, key Iranian and US officials are expected to visit Islamabad for diplomatic engagements aimed at extending the truce in couple of days.
According to diplomatic sources, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are likely to arrive in Islamabad on April 10 to participate in indirect negotiations with a U.S. delegation.
The talks are expected to focus on transforming the current two-week temporary ceasefire into a permanent agreement, contributing to long-term regional stability.
Earlier today, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a 45-minute telephone conversation with the Iranian President, during which both leaders discussed the ceasefire and future prospects for sustainable peace in the region.
However, Iran has not officially confirmed the composition or leadership of its negotiating delegation. Similarly, the names of representatives in the U.S. delegation have not yet been disclosed.
Further developments are awaited as diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes.
